In a deeply heartbreaking turn of events, the Odonwodo family has been struck by yet another tragedy as Ozor Luke Odonwodo, father of the late Nollywood actor Jnr Pope, has passed away—just a year after the untimely death of his son.

The devastating news was shared by Jnr Pope’s widow, Jennifer Awele, who took to Instagram to express her overwhelming grief.

In an emotionally charged post, Jennifer detailed the shocking moment she learned of her father-in-law’s passing, revealing the immense sorrow that has engulfed the family.

“Barely one month ago, I was with you in Enugu…” Jennifer wrote, painting a vivid picture of her last visit with Ozor Luke.

She continued, “Some days later, Reme (my mother-in-love) called, asked how I and her boys are doing and further went to say that her husband has gone to meet my husband.”

That phone call, she recalled, was one of disbelief and agony. “I screamed but had to quickly pull myself together as she started crying after I screamed.”

The emotional weight of losing both her husband and his father in such close succession was apparent in every line of her tribute.

Jennifer did not hold back in sharing the affection and respect she held for her father-in-law. “Ozor Luke Odonwodo is one man that genuinely loved me… and I’m so thankful I got to spend time with him, even though short, unknowingly in his last days,” she said.

According to her, he wasn’t just a father figure—he was a constant source of support and warmth, someone who embraced her with sincerity and love.

His passing leaves a significant void in a family already shattered by the loss of Jnr Pope.

She went on to praise the life he lived, describing him as an “octogenarian who lived a good life, paid his dues, sacrificed a lot for his family and loved ones, and happily reaped the fruits of his labour.”

Through her words, Jennifer offered a picture of a man who was deeply committed to his family and who found joy in the legacy he built, especially during his final years.

The loss, she emphasized, is not only personal but also a blow to the community that knew and respected him.

The widow’s message also carried a note of concern and prayer for her grieving mother-in-law, Reme, who now bears the unimaginable burden of losing both her husband and son in the span of a single year.

“Reme, Nwanyiomam, this is actually a lot within one year but I pray God gives you and us all the strength we need to keep pushing no matter how hard it seems…”

Jennifer’s words were not just consoling but also a call for collective endurance amid sorrow.

Closing her tribute, Jennifer leaned into her faith, offering a spiritual farewell to both men whose absence continues to ache in her heart.

“Adieu Father And Son… you are sorely missed but we hold onto the resurrection promises in John 5:28,29 and Acts 24:15.”

It was a tender, hope-filled goodbye—a reminder that even in grief, the promise of reunion remains a comfort to those left behind.
