A New York judge has turned down Sean “Diddy” Combs’ request to be placed under house arrest on his private island in Florida.

The 55-year-old rapper, currently in custody at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, faces serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. During a court hearing, Diddy’s legal team proposed that he be allowed to serve house arrest on Star Island, a luxury property in Florida. However, US District Judge Arun Subramanian dismissed the proposal outright, stating, “That is not going to work,” according to Us Weekly.

Undeterred, Diddy’s attorneys suggested an alternative arrangement: house arrest at his three-bedroom apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. They detailed a plan to station two guards inside the apartment with Diddy at all times and one additional guard positioned at the building’s entrance.

They argued that this setup would provide a more restrictive environment compared to the Brooklyn detention center where the rapper is currently housed. Despite their efforts, the judge has yet to approve any bail requests, and a decision on his fourth attempt to secure release is expected next week.

Combs has been in custody since his indictment in September on charges that include sex trafficking, racketeering, and facilitating transportation for prostitution. His trial is scheduled for May 2025. In the meantime, the case against him continues to grow more complex, as earlier this month, Combs was named in five additional complaints alleging sexual misconduct. These complaints were filed by clients of attorney Tony Buzbee, who claims to represent more than 100 individuals accusing the rapper of various forms of abuse.

The allegations have sparked significant public and media attention. In response to these accusations, Diddy’s legal team has dismissed them as baseless and part of a “reckless media circus.”

According to his attorneys, while they are taking the claims seriously, they believe the growing number of allegations lacks credibility and serves to sensationalize the case. They have emphasized that Combs “emphatically” denies any claims of sexual abuse or misconduct.

The mounting legal troubles have not only raised questions about Combs’ legal strategy but also highlighted the challenges of addressing high-profile cases in the public eye. His defense team has repeatedly stated that they cannot respond to every allegation brought forward, particularly those they view as meritless. They argue that the media frenzy surrounding the case has distorted the facts and created a hostile environment for a fair trial.

As the legal proceedings advance, Combs’ fate remains uncertain. The court’s decision on whether he will remain in detention or transition to house arrest is expected to have significant implications for his case. In the meantime, the rapper continues to deny all charges, while the growing list of allegations further complicates his fight to clear his name.
