Kenyan actress Catherine Kamau, known as Kate Actress, is thrilled to have received an invitation from the US Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, to attend a state dinner at the White House.

Expressing her gratitude on social media, Kamau thanked the US Embassy in Nairobi for their dedication to the growth of Kenya’s creative industry. She shared her excitement about the invitation, which also includes a luncheon at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta.

She wrote:

“Good morning. This village girl will be attending the STATE DINNER at the White House & a Luncheon at the #TylerPerry studios in Atlanta by invitation from Her Excellency #AmbassadorMegWhitman.”

“@usembassynairobi your efforts and commitment towards the growth of the Kenyan creative economy is greatly appreciated. 🇺🇸🇰🇪.”

This high-profile invitation is not Kate’s first; she previously attended the Netflix-hosted second season premiere of “Bridgerton” in Johannesburg in March 2022.

Her invitation coincides with Kenyan President William Ruto’s visit to the US, where he will explore opportunities within the creative economy, accompanied by content creator and comedian Eddie Butita. Butita emphasized the importance of including the creative industry in the discussions during this state visit.

Tyler Perry Studios, an influential American film production house in Atlanta, Georgia, was founded in 2006 by actor and filmmaker Tyler Perry. Perry gained prominence with his 2005 film “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” and was named the sixth highest-paid man in Hollywood by Forbes in 2009.

His studio remains one of the largest in the USA, renowned for Perry’s work and his portrayal of the character Madea.
