Nollywood actor Lateef Adedimeji is preparing to release an epic biopic titled Lisabi on Netflix, which will be presented in two parts. The first part, Lisabi: The Uprising, is set to debut on September 25, 2024, while the second part, Líṣàbí: A Legend is Born, will be released in early 2025.
This film chronicles the story of Líṣàbí, an Abẹ́òkúta farmer who led a significant rebellion against the oppressive Oyo Empire, ultimately securing the independence of the Egba people in the 18th century.
The film features a star-studded Nollywood cast, including Mo Bimpe (who is also Lateef Adedimeji’s wife), Ibrahim Yekini Itele, Odunlade Adekola, Ibrahim Chatta, Eniola Ajao, Femi Adebayo, and Lateef Adedimeji himself.
The inclusion of these prominent actors highlights the film’s ambition to authentically portray this important historical narrative, while also drawing significant attention from the Nollywood audience.
He took to his social media handle to announce the news. He wrote:

Líṣàbí is produced by Lateef Adedimeji and is written by acclaimed writers Niyi Akinmolayan and Yinka Olaoye. The project reflects Nollywood’s increasing focus on biographical films, aiming to bring historical stories to the forefront of Nigerian cinema.
With its powerful plot and a cast of well-known actors, Líṣàbí promises to be a major cinematic event that celebrates the rich history and cultural heritage of the Yoruba people.
