Laurence Fox has firmly denied allegations that he shared a compromising photograph of television personality Narinder Kaur on social media.

The 46-year-old actor and political activist was accused of posting an explicit image of Kaur — a frequent guest on Good Morning Britain and former GB News contributor — in a tweet from April 2024.

Appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, Fox was formally charged with two offences under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

Dressed in a dark suit, he calmly confirmed his name and age before entering not guilty pleas to both charges brought against him.

The court heard that Fox, who resides in Peldon, Essex, faces serious accusations. According to the first charge, he allegedly shared “a photograph or film of the person in an intimate state intending to cause alarm, distress or humiliation.”

The second charge claims he sent “a photograph or film of genitals to cause alarm, distress or humiliation.” The complainant, Narinder Kaur, has chosen to waive her legal right to anonymity, allowing the media to name her publicly.

In court, Fox maintained his innocence, saying, “I plead not guilty to both counts, Your Honour,” as he stood before the magistrates.

Police have stated that Fox was “charged with an offence contrary to section 66A of the Sexual Offences Act 2003,” specifically relating to an image shared on a social media platform.

Section 66A, which was introduced in 2023, criminalizes the intentional distribution of sexual images without consent, where the purpose is to cause alarm, distress, humiliation, or for sexual gratification.

The charge falls under the wider umbrella of new offences aimed at tackling cyber flashing — the digital sending or posting of explicit content without permission.

“This is a charge that reflects the evolving nature of online abuse,” the prosecution remarked during the brief hearing.

During proceedings, it was noted that the legislation also links closely to laws prohibiting upskirting, a crime that became specifically outlawed in 2019.

These legal reforms were designed to protect individuals from non-consensual and exploitative acts, especially in the age of social media.

As the allegations were read out, Fox remained composed but resolute, signalling his intention to fight the charges robustly.

His legal team immediately informed the court of their preference for a jury trial, believing that “a full trial by jury will fairly assess the facts and context surrounding the allegations.”

Following his court appearance, it was confirmed that Fox will next appear at Woolwich Crown Court on May 23, 2025, for a pre-trial hearing.

His case is expected to attract considerable media attention, given both the nature of the accusations and Fox’s high-profile background.

A member of the famous Fox acting dynasty, Laurence Fox is best known for his long-running role as Detective Sergeant James Hathaway in the Inspector Morse spin-off series, Lewis.

In recent years, however, he has transitioned from acting into political activism, often making headlines for his controversial public statements.

Fox’s professional life has not been without turbulence. In October 2023, he was dismissed from a presenting role at GB News after the channel deemed his on-air comments about a female journalist “totally unacceptable.”

Despite the controversies, Fox continues to maintain a public presence, often voicing his opinions on social and political matters.

Speaking outside court on Friday, he told reporters, “I trust the legal process and look forward to clearing my name in due course.”
