Nigerian activist and comedian Mr Macaroni has voiced his deep outrage following the tragic death of a schoolboy reportedly killed by a stray police bullet in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The heartbreaking incident took place near Gbagi Market, where police officers were allegedly chasing a vehicle when one of the officers opened fire.

Unfortunately, a stray bullet struck a secondary school student who was quietly sitting in his father’s car at the time.

The boy was on his way to sit for the ongoing WAEC examination alongside his twin brother, making the loss even more heartrending for the community.

Eyewitnesses reported that after being shot, the student was rushed to Welfare Hospital but was declared dead on arrival, unable to recover from the fatal injury.

The tragic news sparked immediate protests, with angry citizens reportedly carrying the boy’s lifeless body to the Oyo State Secretariat.

The demonstrators sought to draw the urgent attention of Governor Seyi Makinde, demanding justice and accountability from the authorities.

The atmosphere was thick with grief and fury as the community grappled with the devastating loss of a young life full of promise.

Disturbed by this senseless act, Mr Macaroni took to social media to fiercely condemn the Nigerian Police Force for what he described as a reckless and brutal act. In a passionate post, he wrote,

“Wicked, Evil, Callous, irresponsible and shamelessly Corrupt @PoliceNG just killed an innocent boy in broad daylight!!! MURDERERS!!!”

His words echoed the anger and frustration felt by many Nigerians who are increasingly vocal about police misconduct and the urgent need for reform in the force.

The heartbreaking incident ignited widespread outrage across social media platforms, with Nigerians sharing their own stories and condemning the pattern of violence associated with police encounters.

Many called for immediate reforms, demanding better training, accountability, and a rethinking of policing methods to prevent more innocent lives from being lost in such tragic circumstances.

The event has once again put the spotlight on the urgent need to address police brutality and restore trust between the people and law enforcement agencies in Nigeria.

As the nation mourns the loss of the young student, activists, civil society groups, and ordinary citizens are mobilizing for justice, making it clear that this tragedy cannot be ignored or swept under the rug.

The call for systemic change is growing louder, with the hope that this devastating incident will serve as a catalyst for meaningful action to protect innocent lives and end the cycle of violence inflicted by those sworn to protect the public.
