Mr. P’s management team, One Management, has issued a statement addressing the allegations of sabotage made by UK-based artist Darkoo.
In a detailed press release signed by Ayo Oke, the company described the claims as “opportunistic and selfish,” firmly rejecting the accusations leveled against Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, one-half of the legendary music duo P-Square.
Darkoo recently accused Mr. P of attempting to derail the release of her single Focus On Me (All The Sexy Ladies In The Club) because she declined to feature him on the track.
According to One Management, Darkoo had approached Mr. P seeking advice on clearing a sample used in the song, and he was willing to provide guidance. Contrary to her allegations, the management clarified that Mr. P had no intentions of imposing himself on the project.
The statement revealed that while Darkoo later offered Mr. P a guest feature on the remix of her song, he had communicated his unavailability for the proposed video shoot.
This directly contradicts her claim that he insisted on being part of the original version of the song. One Management categorically denied any involvement in taking down the music video, stating that Mr. P’s actions were solely aimed at protecting his intellectual property rights.
The press release further explained that Darkoo’s efforts to clear the song had involved a third party who did not represent Mr. P’s interests. It was this individual, the statement noted, who allegedly accepted a 50% royalty share without Mr. P’s knowledge or consent. To protect his creative rights, Mr. P took steps to address the situation, which led to the temporary removal of the music video.
One Management emphasized that once Darkoo’s team engaged directly with Mr. P and reached an agreement that safeguarded his intellectual property, the video was promptly restored.
The management urged the public to disregard the misleading narrative, highlighting Mr. P’s commitment to fostering collaboration and growth within the music industry.
In conclusion, One Management reaffirmed Mr. P’s stance as a seasoned professional who values artistic integrity. They expressed disappointment over the controversy but maintained that their actions were guided by the need to ensure fair treatment and proper acknowledgment of their client’s contributions to the music industry.
