Muyeez, the rising star in the Nigerian music scene, has officially parted ways with Dapper Music, citing a litany of grievances, including exploitation, breach of trust, and inhumane treatment.

The announcement came through an emotional statement shared on his Instagram page, where he detailed the struggles he faced while signed to the label. The shocking revelation follows a similar move by Shallipopi, another artist who recently terminated his contract with Dapper Music over similar allegations.

In his heartfelt statement, Muyeez recounted signing with Dapper Music as a minor, entrusting the label with his budding career. He expressed dismay at the lack of support and the unfair demands placed on him. “I was just a minor when I signed this contract, placing my trust in a company that promised to guide and support me,” he wrote.

Despite releasing three EPs in a single month and achieving chart-topping success, Muyeez claimed he received no royalty payments for his hard work. “My passion and hard work were met with indifference, leaving me to wonder if my voice truly mattered,” he lamented.

The young artist went on to describe the exploitative conditions he endured under the label. According to Muyeez, the unrealistic workload took a toll on his health and well-being. “I was forced to overwork myself, with no regard for my health or well-being. The workload was unrealistic, and the rewards were nonexistent,” he stated.

His account sheds light on the dark side of an industry that often prioritizes profits over the welfare of its artists, especially young talents.

Muyeez also accused the label of neglect and abandonment, alleging that he was left to fend for himself while Dapper Music profited from his creativity. “I was abandoned and left to starve while the company profited from my creativity. No artist should ever have to endure such conditions,” he wrote.

These allegations paint a grim picture of the struggles artists face when labels fail to uphold their responsibilities.

In a poignant conclusion to his statement, Muyeez highlighted the breach of trust he experienced, accusing Dapper Music of prioritizing its own interests over his. He pointed out the absence of independent management to advocate for his rights, leaving him vulnerable.

“With no independent management to protect me, Dapper Music & Entertainment Limited prioritized their own interests over mine,” he said. This public denunciation serves as a stark reminder of the importance of transparency and fairness in the music industry.
