Media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, widely known as Nedu Wazobia or simply Nedu, has taken legal steps against social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly called VeryDarkMan (VDM).

Nedu, through his legal representatives, formally served a notice to VDM regarding alleged defamatory content. The legal notice, was issued on behalf of both Nedu and Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd., signaling their intent to challenge statements made by VDM in his recent social media posts.

The lawyers emphasized that the allegations contained in the said content were harmful, false, and damaging to the reputation of their clients.

According to the letter, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, VDM published a 12-minute video across his YouTube and Instagram platforms, making several claims about Nedu and his association with an alleged fraudulent scheme.

The video, which was titled on YouTube as How Nedu Diverted NGO Scholarship Meant for Nigerians, accused Nedu of misappropriating funds meant for charitable purposes. The lawyers, however, described the content as a collection of “defamatory, false, and disparaging attacks and rhetoric” directed at their clients.

They argued that the allegations were baseless and intentionally designed to mislead the public and tarnish Nedu’s reputation.

Additionally, the legal representatives pointed out that VDM had made an attempt to evade legal repercussions by deliberately altering the spelling of certain words in his posts. They noted that in his captions and descriptions, he spelled ‘fraud’ as ‘fr@vd,’ which they viewed as an intentional move to circumvent defamation laws.

Despite this effort, they maintained that his statements were still damaging and legally actionable. Furthermore, they addressed claims involving the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK (MSBM), stating that the institution had already been investigated by relevant authorities, who found no substantial evidence to support the allegations against Nedu or his affiliations.

Beyond the initial video, the lawyers asserted that VDM had continued to publish multiple follow-up videos that repeated and reinforced the same allegations. They highlighted statements in which VDM accused Nedu of involving Nigerian musicians Timaya and Kcee Limpopo in the supposed fraudulent scheme.

According to the legal notice, these repeated attacks have not only misrepresented the facts but have also led to significant reputational damage for their clients. The lawyers insisted that the allegations had no factual basis and were merely an extension of VDM’s persistent efforts to discredit Nedu in the public space.

Furthermore, the letter clarified that the Nedu Foundation, which was the focal point of the controversy, was originally established to raise funds to help students gain admission into MSBM. However, they stated that this was done without Nedu’s direct involvement or knowledge of the financial aspects of the initiative.

Contrary to the accusations, they revealed that Nedu was never paid for his role in promoting the charity or for organizing any related events.

They also made it clear that while Nedu is a public face associated with Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd., he is not the owner of the company but rather a talent under its management. This, they argued, further discredits VDM’s claims regarding financial misconduct.

To address the situation, the legal team attached supporting documents to substantiate their claims and issued a set of demands to VDM. They required him to retract every video mentioning Nedu from all his platforms within 24 hours of receiving the notice.

Additionally, they insisted on a public apology to be published across his social media channels. Lastly, they demanded the sum of ₦500 million as compensation for the damage done to Nedu’s reputation.

The letter concluded with a firm warning that failure to comply with these demands would result in immediate legal action against VDM.
