Nigerian media personality Nedu Wazobia has officially stepped down from his role as host of the popular podcast, ‘The Honest Bunch,’ following recent controversies.

In a heartfelt statement shared on Instagram on February 14, 2025, Nedu reflected on his time with the podcast, describing it as an invaluable experience.

However, he admitted that the constant scrutiny and barrage of accusations had taken a significant toll on him.

“The past week has brought a lot into perspective for me. Hosting The Honest Bunch Podcast has been an incredible journey—one built on open conversations, bold perspectives, and the willingness to tackle difficult topics. But with that responsibility has come an overwhelming level of scrutiny, antagonism, and unfounded accusations that have now begun to take a personal toll.”

Elaborating on his decision, Nedu explained that stepping down was not easy, but it was necessary for his well-being and the future of the show.

“In light of recent events, I have made the difficult decision to step away from the podcast. This is not a decision I take lightly, but one I believe is necessary—for my peace of mind, for my family, and for the integrity of the show itself. I have always been committed to honest conversations, but when those conversations lead to relentless attacks and misrepresentation, it becomes clear that stepping back is the best path forward.”

His resignation comes at a time when public discourse around his involvement with the podcast has intensified.

Nedu also expressed his hope that his departure would quell the negativity surrounding his name and allow ‘The Honest Bunch Podcast’ to continue without the weight of controversy.

“I sincerely hope this decision brings an end to the negativity surrounding my name and allows The Honest Bunch Podcast to continue thriving.”

His departure marks a significant moment for the podcast, which has built a reputation for its fearless discussions on contemporary issues.

The controversy surrounding Nedu’s resignation was fueled by allegations from social media critic Martins Ortse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.

He accused Nedu of demanding sexual favors in exchange for movie roles from a female content creator, Jojo.

These allegations surfaced in the midst of an ongoing feud between VeryDarkMan and stand-up comedian Deeone, who recently appeared on ‘The Honest Bunch Podcast’ and claimed to have evidence that VeryDarkMan was gay.

In response to Deeone’s claims, VeryDarkMan retaliated by threatening to expose a list of celebrities whom Nedu had allegedly engaged in inappropriate exchanges with.

This intensified the public discourse, leading to increased pressure on Nedu, which likely contributed to his decision to step down. The allegations, though unverified, quickly spread across social media, leading to further scrutiny of Nedu’s past and present actions.

With Nedu’s resignation, the future of ‘The Honest Bunch Podcast’ remains uncertain. It is unclear whether the show will continue with a new host or undergo major changes.

However, the impact of Nedu’s departure will undoubtedly be felt by both the podcast’s audience and the Nigerian entertainment industry as a whole.

As social media continues to play a major role in shaping public opinion, figures in the entertainment industry will likely remain under intense scrutiny, navigating the complex intersection of personal reputation and professional endeavors.
