Paballo Molingoane makes her mark with ‘Soft Love’, debuting as a screenwriter while leveraging her extensive background in South African television with shows like ‘Arendsvlei,’ ‘Ring of Lies,’ and ‘Ingoma.’ She also played key roles in postproduction for popular projects such as ‘Far From Home*)’ and ‘Slum King.’
The official synopsis of ‘Soft Love’ revolves around Zandi Jele, a South African online relationship expert whose life spirals out of control after being jilted on her wedding day. Things worsen when she discovers her ex-fiancé, Dumi, is gay, leading to her love life crashing and her credibility being damaged.
However, things take a hopeful turn when she meets Nigerian photographer Edward, who reignites her belief in love. Together, they begin building a loving relationship, with Zandi helping Edward pursue his dream of exhibiting his photography work.
Just as things seem to be falling into place, Edward’s estranged wife, Amaka, returns, throwing their budding relationship into turmoil. Feeling betrayed, Zandi takes drastic action by having Edward deported to Nigeria, shattering his dreams and leaving both of them heartbroken. In the aftermath, both Edward and Zandi struggle with their losses.
Zandi, with the help of a friend, begins to rethink her approach to love and ultimately decides to go to Lagos to make amends. Meanwhile, Edward manages to secure a divorce from Amaka, freeing him from the past and opening the door to potential reconciliation with Zandi.
