The Nigeria Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC) has announced the addition of five new members to its team, ahead of the 97th edition of the annual Oscars awards, scheduled for March 2nd, 2025.

The new members, who bring diverse creative backgrounds and expertise, are expected to enhance the committee’s process of selecting the best Nigerian film for the prestigious award.

The new members include Ali Nuhu, Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation; Blessing Egbe, a renowned film producer; Victor Akande, a respected journalist and film critic; Kene Okwuosa, Group Chief Executive Officer of Filmhouse Cinemas; and Ijeoma Agu, a talented actress.

The NOSC, led by Stephanie Linus, announced the new appointments in a statement, highlighting the valuable contributions the new members will bring to the committee.

The statement noted that the additional members will join returning members, including Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Victor Okhai, Andy Amenechi, Yibo Koko, Izu Ojukwu, Dimeji Ajibola, Emem Isong, Jude Idada, Meg Otanwa, and John Njamah. The committee’s diverse membership ensures a comprehensive and informed selection process for Nigeria’s Oscar submission.
