Nollywood actor and filmmaker Odunlade Adekola has released a trailer for his upcoming Yoruba language film, “Lakatabu,” set to premiere in cinemas on June 21, 2024.

The film features a notable cast, including Adebayo Salami, Adedimeji Adetola Lateef, and Akin Lewis. Adekola announced the release on Instagram on June 9, 2024, describing the central character, Lakatabu, as a powerful criminal threatening citizens with his abilities and connections.

“Lakatabu” follows the story of an armed robber, played by Adekola, who uses magical support to terrorize, kidnap, and murder people.

The plot takes a significant turn when Lakatabu begins to receive threats from rivals, highlighting the challenges he faces, the fear he instills, and the consequences of his power.

Directed by Adekola, the film is co-produced by Odunlade Adekola Film Productions and FilmOne Studios, and also features actors such as Samuel A.

Adekola, who rose to fame with his lead role in the 2003 film “Ishola Durojaye,” has established himself as a prominent figure in Yoruba cinema.

His talents as both an actor and director have earned him critical acclaim and two Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards: Best Actor in a Comedy for “A Million Baby” in 2018 and Best Supporting Actor for “Jankariwo” in 2022.
