Acclaimed Nollywood director Kemi Adetiba has officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated third installment of King of Boys.

The new chapter, titled The Beginning of the End, is set to premiere in cinemas on December 25, 2025. Adetiba made the announcement on her Instagram page during her recent birthday celebration, exciting fans with a message that read,

The announcement has already sparked widespread anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling continuation of the franchise.

Earlier in 2023, Adetiba revealed that pre-production for King of Boys 3 had begun. She also teased audiences with upcoming projects, including To Kill A Monkey and Welcome to the Fourth.

Adetiba shared that this latest installment would feature new characters while retaining some fan favorites, further deepening the storyline. Tagged The Beginning of the End, the film will explore more intricate layers of the King of Boys universe, promising a cinematic experience that blends drama, intrigue, and power dynamics.

The King of Boys franchise revolves around the formidable Alhaja Eniola Salami, a powerful businesswoman and philanthropist who becomes embroiled in a dangerous political and criminal power struggle.

The first film, which debuted in 2018, was an instant success, captivating audiences with its intense storytelling and riveting performances. Its sequel, King of Boys: The Return of the King, premiered on Netflix in 2021, solidifying its place as a cultural phenomenon and earning praise for its nuanced portrayal of power and redemption.

The franchise boasts an impressive ensemble cast, headlined by Sola Sobowale in her iconic role as Eniola Salami. Other notable stars include Nse Ikpe-Etim, Jide Kosoko, Adesua Etomi, and Richard Mofe-Damijo.

With each installment, Adetiba has demonstrated her mastery in weaving complex narratives that resonate deeply with audiences, while showcasing the exceptional talents of her cast. Fans eagerly await the next chapter, expecting it to deliver the same level of intensity and brilliance.

Kemi Adetiba’s journey to becoming one of Nollywood’s most celebrated filmmakers began as a radio presenter at Rhythm 93.7 FM, where she hosted the beloved shows Soul’d Out and Sunday at the Seaside.

During this period, she shared her passion for music by anonymously posting remixes on platforms like Spotify and SoundCloud under the alias “Hule.” Her creativity and charisma quickly made her a household name.

Adetiba later transitioned to television, where she produced and hosted shows on Mnet, including Studio 53 and Temptation Nigeria alongside Ikponmwosa Osakioduwa.

She also became a familiar face on Soundcity TV and hosted the popular reality show Maltina Dance All for three consecutive seasons. Despite her on-screen success, Adetiba decided to shift her focus to filmmaking, pursuing her passion for storytelling behind the camera.

To refine her skills, Adetiba enrolled at the New York Film Academy, a move that proved pivotal in her career. Her short film, Across a Bloodied Ocean, gained international recognition, screening at the 2009 Pan African Film Festival and the National Black Arts Festival.

She made her feature film debut with The Wedding Party, a romantic comedy that premiered as the opening film of the City-to-City Spotlight at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). With King of Boys 3 on the horizon, Adetiba continues to push creative boundaries, solidifying her legacy as a trailblazer in African cinema.
