Nigerian on-air personality and rapper, Nnamdi Nwabasili, popularly known as N6, has stirred up fresh conversations around the long-standing feud between iconic rappers M.I Abaga and Vector Tha Viper, claiming that he played a key role in sparking their animosity.
In a recent conversation with Day Genius, N6 opened up about his controversial involvement, revealing that his response track to M.I’s 2017 diss song, “You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,” was the real trigger behind the M.I-Vector clash.
According to N6, while many rappers chose to respond to M.I’s track with cautious and diplomatic lyrics, he decided to take a different route.
“M.I did a song entitled, ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,’ and some rappers started replying to him but were being diplomatic. So, I did my reply. If you hear the things I said in my reply, I understand why out of 4,000 replies, he came for me,” he explained.
N6’s track, “You Should Fix Up Your Life, Too,” did not hold back, and he believes that it set the stage for the lyrical war between M.I and Vector.
Reflecting on his experience, N6 explained that he typically avoids conflicts within the music industry.
“That was the only time I ever went at a fellow rapper. I like to keep a friendly disposition with my colleagues because I know I’m crazily talented. So, what am I dragging with them?” he stated.
But in this case, he felt compelled to respond to M.I’s challenge. His decision led to a heated exchange, not in the form of rap bars but through social media, as M.I chose to react with a barrage of tweets instead of a musical reply.
The rapper-turned-radio host disclosed that M.I’s response came in the form of approximately 18 tweets, an unusual move for someone of M.I’s lyrical prowess.
“I did a reply track to M.I’s diss track ‘You Rappers Should Fix Up Your Lives,’ but he replied to me with tweets. So, we didn’t go on the full extent of a rap beef,” N6 explained.
This unusual exchange left the issue unresolved, but it planted the seeds of tension between M.I and other rappers, most notably Vector.
N6 further claimed that his track indirectly fueled Vector’s decision to take on M.I in a full-blown rap battle, which later became one of the most iconic beefs in Nigerian hip-hop history.
“When I dropped my reply track, we got into a fight. Some people don’t know that was what led to him [M.I] and Vector’s beef,” he revealed.
Vector’s fiery diss tracks aimed at M.I, including “The Purge” and “Judas the Rat,” eventually transformed their rivalry into one of the most talked-about conflicts in Nigerian music.
Despite the drama, N6 maintains that he never intended to create chaos but simply wanted to voice his thoughts in the spirit of hip-hop.
“I’m not one to cause trouble, but at that time, I felt it was necessary to speak my mind. Little did I know it would have such a ripple effect,” he concluded.
As fans and industry insiders react to N6’s revelations, the rapper’s role in one of Nigeria’s most significant hip-hop feuds is now being reconsidered.
