Nigerian billionaire entrepreneur and nightlife mogul, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has finally addressed the public confusion surrounding the identity of his next-of-kin.
This clarification comes in the wake of a viral TikTok video by Chidi, his adopted son, who recently participated in a popular social media challenge.
In the video, Chidi confidently walked toward the camera with the caption, “Nothing do my shoulder, I just realise sey I be next of kin.”
The video sparked a flurry of reactions online, with fans and observers speculating about the billionaire’s succession plans.
Obi Cubana, known for his flamboyant yet calculated public persona, chose a more subtle yet effective way to set the record straight. In what many saw as a gentle but firm rebuttal to Chidi’s claims, he took to Instagram to post a photo of himself alongside his biological son, Alex.
The caption read, “Ancient and Modern, eyes on the ball! @dtwalx aka Next-of-kin!” The message, though playful, left no room for ambiguity. By tagging Alex directly and referring to him as the “Next-of-kin,” Obi Cubana made it clear where his allegiance lies, effectively quelling the online chatter.
Despite the drama that brewed online, Obi Cubana has maintained his usual calm demeanor in the public space. While social media buzzed with debates over inheritance and entitlement, he remained focused on his business and social commitments.
This past Sunday, he was seen in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, where he lent his voice to a different kind of discourse—political development.
There, he lauded the efforts of Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, for his transformative leadership and visible developmental strides across the state.
Speaking to the press during his visit, Obi Cubana praised the governor’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and improving lives at the grassroots level. “Governor Soludo is not just talking—he’s doing,” Obi Cubana stated. “From infrastructure to education and even youth empowerment, the impact is being felt. He’s showing us what it means to govern with intention.”
His comments struck a chord with many who have watched Soludo implement sweeping reforms in less than a full term in office.
As Governor Soludo’s first term draws to a close, conversations about the upcoming elections are heating up. Obi Cubana didn’t mince words about his belief in the governor’s re-election prospects.
“I believe this may be the first time in Anambra State where there might be no real contest,” he said. “It’s going to be a walkover because the governor is delivering on his promises for a new Anambra.”
In a moment that combined personal clarity and public endorsement, Obi Cubana reminded his audience that leadership—whether in family or governance—is ultimately about responsibility, not just popularity.
