Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck has opened up about a heartwarming gesture from Afrobeats superstar Davido, revealing that the singer recently gifted his girlfriend ₦10 million in recognition of her support during his journey to fame.
Speaking during an interview on Beat 99.9FM, Odumodublvck expressed his deep appreciation for Davido, describing him as a brother who has always shown incredible kindness.
“Shout out to Davido; that’s my brother, you know? Two days ago, he sent 10 million naira to my girlfriend.
He just sent it to her for being a real one because she was a huge part of my success in winning the Next Rated award at the Headies,” he revealed.
According to the rapper, his girlfriend played an instrumental role in his Headies victory by actively campaigning and supporting him.
“She did a whole campaign and stuff like that. She’s a real one. I have to give credit to both of them,” he added, clearly moved by the recognition from Davido.
Odumodublvck further recalled a conversation he had with Davido back in 2023, when the superstar predicted his eventual success at the Headies.
“There was a time in 2023 when Davido told me I was going to win that Next Rated award. Back then, I was only nominated for Rookie of the Year. He just believed in me,” Odumodublvck recounted.
He explained that despite being nominated for the Rookie award at the time, Davido’s unwavering confidence in him gave him the motivation to keep pushing.
“I thank God they didn’t even nominate me that year because the Next Rated was really for Asake. I wasn’t going to win that car,” he said with a laugh.
Reflecting on his journey, the rapper emphasized his appreciation for the growth process and the lessons he learned along the way.
“There was never a time I felt bitter or discouraged. I’m someone who glorifies the process – going from here to there. Winning has just added more fire to me,” Odumodublvck concluded.
