Olamide’s surprise EP ‘Ikigai,’ released on June 27, 2024, has set a new record for opening week streams on Spotify Nigeria, amassing 7.92 million streams. This achievement surpasses Shallipopi’s ‘Shakespopi,’ which had 5.7 million streams.

Olamide, recognized as one of the greatest Nigerian artists of the modern era, continues to solidify his legacy with this impressive feat.

‘Ikigai,’ which has been well-received by listeners, includes collaborations with YBNL superstars Fireboy and Asake on ‘Uptown Disco,’ and former YBNL associates Pheelz, Young Jonn, and Lil Kesh on ‘Synchro System.’

This EP marks Olamide’s 10th solo project and 15th overall, highlighting his extensive discography since 1999. The EP’s success reinforces Olamide’s status as the most streamed African rapper on Spotify and his ongoing influence in Nigerian mainstream music.

Despite this milestone, ‘Ikigai’ trails behind Davido’s ‘Timeless,’ Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them,’ and Asake’s ‘Work Of Art’ in overall streaming records on Spotify Nigeria.
