Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has strongly criticized socialite Sophia Egbueje for publicly flaunting her newly acquired Lamborghini, despite the controversy surrounding her alleged affair with singer Burna Boy.

The social media personality recently became a topic of public discourse after leaked audio surfaced, in which she accused Burna Boy of failing to fulfill his promise of buying her the luxury vehicle. The scandal quickly gained traction, sparking debates about wealth, morality, and social responsibility.

In response to the backlash, Sophia took to social media to show off her Lamborghini, insisting that she purchased the car with her own money after Burna Boy failed to deliver on his alleged promise. She proudly displayed the exotic automobile, boasting about her financial independence.

However, many critics, including Doyle, found her actions distasteful, arguing that she was sending the wrong message to young women who look up to public figures. Instead of addressing the controversy with dignity, she chose to revel in material wealth, further fueling the speculation surrounding her source of income.

Doyle did not hold back his criticism, expressing his disappointment at both Sophia’s actions and those who celebrated her extravagant display. He condemned the culture of glorifying questionable means of acquiring wealth, particularly when it comes at the expense of moral integrity.

In a scathing social media post, the actor emphasized that flaunting wealth without addressing the manner in which it was earned is a disservice to society. According to him, it was troubling that people seemed more fascinated by the luxury lifestyle than by the ethics behind it.

The actor also pointed out that while Sophia paraded her wealth, there were likely members of her extended family struggling financially. He lamented the growing trend of individuals prioritizing material possessions over social responsibility and familial support.

Doyle expressed concern about the moral decay in society, where wealth is revered regardless of its origins. He highlighted that such behavior normalizes questionable ethics and discourages the pursuit of honest, hard work.

His words:

“She boasted about the value of her wristwatch and flaunted a 600 million Naira car. The combined value of both items is in the range of 650 to 750 million Naira.

“Some half-wits were impressed and effusively congratulated her as she smiled and flaunted both items, as if we hadn’t heard about her shameful means of livelihood.

“Meanwhile, I can bet that there are members of her extended family who are going through a tough time. The romanticizing of iniquity has become the stock-in-trade of dim-wits amongst us.”

Doyle’s remarks sparked mixed reactions, with some agreeing with his stance while others defended Sophia’s right to live her life as she pleases. The debate over social values, wealth, and morality continues to rage on, but the veteran actor’s comments have certainly added fuel to the ongoing discussion.

Whether or not Sophia responds to the criticism remains to be seen, but the controversy has undoubtedly opened up larger conversations about the glorification of wealth and its impact on societal values.
