Popular content creator and livestream host, Peller, was visibly heartbroken during a recent broadcast after alleging that the organizers of the 2025 Headies Awards withdrew their invitation for him to livestream the event at the very last minute.
Peller, who had made extensive preparations and publicized his participation across his platforms, said the sudden cancellation left him feeling humiliated. During his emotional livestream on April 27, 2025, he struggled to hold back tears as he shared his pain with viewers.
“I had told lots of people, I put it on my channels and everywhere,” he lamented. “Now people are talking to me anyhow and saying my glory isn’t enough for the Headies. I’m not happy about this at all.”
As the livestream continued, Peller’s emotions spiraled from sadness to anger. He alleged that it was the Headies committee themselves who initially reached out and invited him to cover the event, only to backtrack on their decision after he had committed.
Fighting through tears, he said, “I no send anybody papa, these people don’t help people and they’re very wicked. The people behind it stopped replying and they were the ones who came to me with an invitation to livestream the Headies award, then they started giving me terms and conditions on the day of. I had prepared for it so much. I called and called.”
His raw expressions resonated deeply with his audience, many of whom flooded the chat with messages of support.
Peller explained that his intentions had never been to exploit the platform for financial gain but rather to share the excitement of the prestigious event with his followers.
“I didn’t get to see the celebrities I wanted to see,” he said bitterly. “I never intended to go there to monetise the stream. I just wanted to livestream for fun, how much would I even get from that? It’s not all about money. Let other people achieve their dreams and be part of the journey. I’m so hurt, and I’ve never been this hurt like this in my life. I only wanted to be on the red carpet to interview people.”
His heartbreak painted a picture of a young creator who had simply hoped to be part of something bigger than himself.
Adding fuel to his frustration, Peller criticized how the event was handled overall, pointing to specific moments that, in his view, reflected poorly on the organization.
“How is it even that Tems’ mum was the one who announced the award that she won?” he questioned sharply. “Headies has to pay for this! All the money I spent on preparations, you people would pay me back. You people think this is a small thing?”
His tone was a blend of disbelief and anger, signaling that for him, the incident had gone beyond personal hurt to a broader disappointment with how the event had been managed.
As of the time this report was filed, the Headies Awards organizers have yet to respond publicly to Peller’s allegations.
Meanwhile, the viral clip of his emotional breakdown continues to spark conversation across social media platforms, with many calling for more accountability and fairness in how content creators are treated by major event organizers.
