The Pet Shop Boys and Sting are set to headline BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Preston this September. The festival will also feature performances from the Manic Street Preachers, Sugababes, Craig David, Snow Patrol, Travis, and Sister Sledge.
For the first time, the event will span three days, beginning with a Friday night “pre-party” featuring DJ sets from Radio 2 presenters like Sara Cox and Vernon Kay. The festival will take place in Preston’s Moor Park from September 6-8, with tickets available starting June 4.
This marks the Pet Shop Boys’ second time headlining the festival, having previously topped the bill in Hyde Park, London, five years ago. Neil Tennant expressed enthusiasm about performing in the north and hinted at a potential special guest for their set.
They will perform a greatest hits set from their Dreamworld tour, closing the festival on Sunday night.
Sting will headline on Saturday, performing with his new trio, Sting 3.0, which will feature stripped-down and reworked versions of his biggest hits, including classics like “Roxanne” and “Message In A Bottle.”
Sting shared his excitement about visiting Preston for the first time and delivering a comprehensive overview of his career.Originally a one-day festival in Hyde Park, Radio 2 in the Park moved out of the capital in 2023, with Kylie Minogue headlining in Leicester’s Victoria Park.
Last year’s event featured memorable moments such as James Blunt crowd-surfing in an inflatable dinghy and Hanson joining Busted on stage.
