In a recent online video, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, better known as Portable, has stirred controversy by accusing Afrobeat star Davido, real name David Adeleke, of living a fake life.

The outspoken street singer alleged that Davido intentionally gave him misleading advice regarding a potential record deal, casting doubts on Davido’s sincerity. Portable did not hold back, claiming that the renowned artist’s actions were driven by motives that were not in his best interest. The fiery remarks have reignited public attention on their past altercations and raised questions about the dynamics between the two artists.

Portable detailed an incident during a meeting in Atlanta, where Davido allegedly discouraged him from signing with Sony Music, advising him to consider Empire Records instead.

You gave me bad advice in Atlanta,” Portable declared. “Did you pay for my flight? You told me not to go to Sony but to join Empire, saying Azaké is there.” The singer explained that he had shared this advice with his promoter, only to later discover that Davido himself was signed to Sony Music. “I found out Davido is with Sony and getting paid well,” he added, hinting at a perceived double standard in Davido’s counsel.

The street singer went further, accusing Davido of fabricating the value of his possessions to portray a luxurious lifestyle. “Fake love, fake life,” Portable alleged. “You’ll buy a chain for $30,000 and claim it’s worth $100 million. Your fake life and fake love will harm you.”

His statements highlighted what he believes is a pattern of exaggeration and pretense, which, according to him, might eventually backfire on the superstar. Portable juxtaposed these accusations with a prayerful note for Wizkid, saying, “Big Wizzy, God bless,” implying a stark contrast between the two prominent artists.

Portable also revisited the events leading up to their falling out in Atlanta in June 2024. He recounted how they had dinner on the 7th of June, a meeting that would later spiral into a public spat on social media.

According to Portable, the meeting was supposed to be a cordial interaction but turned sour due to Davido’s advice, which he perceived as a deliberate attempt to mislead him. “Davido told me to join Empire, but I see now that the advice wasn’t genuine,” Portable lamented, suggesting that the superstar’s intentions may not have been in his best interest.

Finally, Portable expressed skepticism about Davido’s motives, accusing him of potentially undermining his career growth and chances of achieving significant milestones like winning a Grammy. “Fake love and fake life won’t help anyone grow,” he emphasized. Portable’s latest remarks have reignited conversations about the rivalry between street music advocates and mainstream Afrobeat stars, with fans weighing in on both sides.

While Davido has not responded to these claims, the public eagerly awaits his take on the accusations leveled by Portable, which have further fueled their ongoing feud.
