Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Badmus Okikiola, better known as Portable, secured a decisive victory over rapper Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, in a celebrity boxing match titled Chaos in the Ring: Battle for Glory.
The much-hyped showdown took place at the Balmoral Events Centre in Lagos in the early hours of Saturday and lived up to its name, drawing a spirited crowd and a storm of online reactions.
Portable, known for his eccentric personality and raw street energy, took complete control of the ring from the opening bell.
The match was intense but brief, ending in the first round with Portable emerging victorious by technical knockout. As the bout began, both celebrities threw wild punches, but it quickly became clear that Portable had the edge in both stamina and technique.
He landed cleaner shots, forced Speed Darlington to retreat several times, and maintained an aggressive pace throughout.
The referee stopped the match after it became apparent that Speed Darlington had sustained an injury and could not continue.
Leading up to the fight, Speed Darlington was full of confidence and theatrics. In a dramatic display, he arrived with a coffin, claiming it would be used to carry Portable out of the ring after his supposed defeat.
“I’m going to bury Portable tonight,” Speedy had declared, brimming with bravado. However, on fight night, that confidence crumbled under the pressure of Portable’s unrelenting blows.
Despite the hype, Speed Darlington was unable to match Portable’s energy and physical intensity.
This victory marks Portable’s second consecutive win in celebrity boxing. His first was in 2023, when he defeated comedian Charles Okocha in another viral match.
That fight, which also drew massive online attention, ended in the fourth round after both fighters refused to return for the fifth. The referee ultimately called the match in Portable’s favor.
That bout was fueled by a personal feud, with Portable accusing Okocha of cheating him out of ₦40 million in a business deal gone wrong.
The Chaos in the Ring fight was sanctioned by Heritage Boxing Entertainment and served not just as a clash of egos, but a spectacle that entertained fans across the country.
For Portable, it reinforced his image as not just a controversial artist, but a force to reckon with in the celebrity boxing scene. As for Speed Darlington, the match left fans questioning whether his bark will ever match his bite in the ring again.
