After his recent release from detention, controversial street hop star Portable is wasting no time in channeling his life experiences into music once again.

Known for blending raw storytelling with street-inspired sounds, Portable has teased a brand-new single titled Oni Reason, just days after being freed from custody.

The arrest came after a criminal defamation petition was filed against him by Fuji legend, King Saheed Osupa. Now back in the spotlight, Portable is doing what he knows best—documenting his turbulent life through rhythm and rhymes.

In a recent post on his Instagram page, the artist gave fans a snippet of Oni Reason, a track that appears to chronicle the spiritual and personal implications of his legal ordeal in Kwara State.

Dem fit arrest me but dem no fit stop destiny,” he declared in the song’s preview. “This life na God dey run am.” The teaser reflects his usual defiant tone, with lyrics that suggest a belief in divine guidance amid chaos.

For Portable, every challenge is a stepping stone, and music remains his chosen medium to respond to critics and paint his own narrative.

This is not the first time Portable has turned controversy into content. Back in 2023, after being arrested and declared wanted by the Ogun State Police for allegedly assaulting government officials, he dropped the Most Wanted EP.

That project was a brazen artistic response to the headlines, with songs that referenced his arrest and portrayed him as a misunderstood hero.

“Dem call me criminal, but I be superstar,” he rapped in one of the tracks, showing how his music often mirrors the headlines that surround him.

Similarly, in 2024, Portable released the Chosen EP, riding the wave of the viral “I Am A Chosen” trend. That project further solidified his ability to align music with viral moments, turning controversy into conversation—and conversation into streaming numbers.

One of the most dramatic incidents involved the release of Spiderman, a track he dropped shortly after a video went viral showing him scaling a fence in a bid to evade police officers over a debt-related issue involving his G-Wagon Brabus.

As outrageous as the moment was, it fed perfectly into his brand of unpredictable, drama-fueled stardom.

Portable’s career has also seen significant highs, including a standout international collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Skepta.

Their joint track Tony Montana marked Portable’s biggest hit since Zazzu Zeh, bringing him renewed acclaim and a taste of global recognition. To mark his time in the UK, he released the Tony Montana of London EP, another project that blurred the line between lived experience and musical creativity.

His most recent international adventure led to Canadian Burger, an EP inspired by his 2025 tour of Canada, proving that he can pivot from chaos to creativity with impressive speed.

Now, with Oni Reason on the way, Portable continues his strategy of using music to reclaim power over his narrative.

His ability to turn controversy into chartable content has kept him relevant in the ever-fickle entertainment industry.

Whether escaping arrest, clashing with legends, or touring new countries, Portable seems determined to live out loud—and make music every step of the way. As he puts it himself, “Wetin no kill me, go blow me.”
