Popular street singer Habeeb Okikiola, known as Portable, released a new single titled “SpiderMan” shortly after being arrested and released by the police in Lagos.
The arrest stemmed from Portable’s failure to pay the balance on a N27 million G-Wagon he purchased, having only paid N13 million upfront and leaving a debt of N14 million.
The car dealer, frustrated by Portable’s claims that the vehicle was faulty and his refusal to pay the remaining amount, involved the police.
Lagos police spokesperson Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest, explaining that Portable was detained for not paying the remaining debt.
Portable was granted bail the following day, but it was unclear if he settled the debt before his release.
Undeterred by the incident, Portable quickly released a new song addressing the situation. The lyrics, mostly in Yoruba and Pidgin, conveyed a message about longevity and debt, suggesting that only those who owe money live long.
