Character Description:

Dera is an A-grade, image-conscious Gen-Z Nollywood actress who recently returned from the United States to launch her acting career in Nigeria. She is stylish, outspoken, confident, and very particular about her brand. Used to premium standards, she hires her own personal makeup artist because she refuses to share a makeup artist with other actors on set. Dera is dramatic, sharp-tongued, defensive, but ultimately capable of reflection and growth.

Performance Notes:

• Must deliver fast-paced dialogue with confidence and emotional range
• Must convincingly play entitlement, frustration, embarrassment, and eventual humility
• Strong comedic timing required, especially in heated arguments
• Ability to overlap dialogue naturally and react quickly is essential
• Familiarity with Nollywood culture and Gen-Z slang is a strong advantage

• The video clip should include name, age, height, location, and acting background

GENERAL SETUP

Camera & Framing

• Use a phone or camera in landscape mode
• Frame from mid-chest to just above the head
• Keep the camera at eye level
• Do not move the camera during the take

Lighting

• Face a natural light source or use a soft light
• Avoid harsh shadows on the face
• Do not backlight yourself

Sound

• Record in a quiet space
• Ensure your voice is clear and audible
• Avoid background music or noise

PERFORMANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Tone & Style

• This is a comedy-drama, not a skit
• Play the character truthfully, even when exaggerated
• Avoid cartoon acting — energy should feel natural but bold

Pacing

• Dialogue should feel fast-paced when needed 
• Interrupt naturally when required by the character

Language

• Perform in 95% English
• Add light Nigerian Pidgin only where it feels organic
• Accents should be authentic (do not overdo it)
