CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

Alobam is a serious, passionate professional photographer who takes deep pride in his craft. He is disciplined, detail-oriented, and does not tolerate disrespect for creative process or time.  He is angry, stubborn, and defensive—but not unreasonable. Beneath his temper is a man who simply wants respect for his work and boundaries.

PERFORMANCE NOTES

• Must convincingly portray controlled anger and professional pride
• Strong emotional presence without shouting excessively
• Ability to balance comedy with grounded seriousness
• Comfortable delivering confrontational dialogue
• Physicality (gestures, posture) should reflect confidence and authority

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Please submit:

• A 1–2 minute dramatic monologue for Alobam (View & Download Alobam's Monologue)
• Optional: a short improvised clip reacting to someone misusing your work publicly
• Self-tape must begin with name, age, height, location, and acting background

Technical Requirements:
Clear audio and good lighting are mandatory.

SELF-TAPE AUDITION GUIDELINES

Please read carefully before submitting your audition.

GENERAL SETUP

Camera & Framing

• Use a phone or camera in landscape mode
• Frame from mid-chest to just above the head
• Keep the camera at eye level
• Do not move the camera during the take

Lighting

• Face a natural light source or use a soft light
• Avoid harsh shadows on the face
• Do not backlight yourself

Sound

• Record in a quiet space
• Ensure your voice is clear and audible
• Avoid background music or noise

PERFORMANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Tone & Style

• This is a comedy-drama, not a skit
• Play the character truthfully, even when exaggerated
• Avoid cartoon acting — energy should feel natural but bold
  

Language

• Perform in 95% English
• Add light Nigerian Pidgin only where it feels organic
• Accents should be authentic (do not overdo it)

SLATE (VERY IMPORTANT)

Before your performance, please record a 10–15 second slate:Say clearly:“Hello, my name is ___, I am auditioning for the role of ___, I’m ___ years old, based in ___.”Then pause briefly and begin your performance.
