Role: JACOB – The Passionate, Dramatic Screenwriter

• Age Range: 25–40
• Ethnicity/Nationality: Nigerian (all tribes welcome)
• Accent: Neutral Nigerian English (must be able to add dramatic flair when needed)
• Language: English + light Pidgin 

Character Description:
Jacob is an emotionally intense, slightly eccentric screenwriter who treats every script like a sacred document. He’s prone to melodramatic speeches, exaggerated metaphors, and theatrical rants—especially when someone alters his work. In this episode, he’s furious that a Nollywood producer turned his serious drama into a viral slapstick comedy.

Think: a cross between a poet, a courtroom lawyer, and a Shakespearean actor on energy drinks.

Performance Notes:

• Must be expressive and able to switch between comedic outbursts and sincere emotional pleas
• Must deliver monologues with passion and timing for live audience reactions
• Improvisation skills are a plus
• Familiarity with satire and Nollywood culture is an advantage

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:

2. Create a short improv clip recreating Jacob's character
3. The video clip should include name, age, height, location, and acting background

Self-tapes must have good lighting and clear audio.

Please read carefully before submitting your audition.

GENERAL SETUP

Camera & Framing

• Use a phone or camera in landscape mode
• Frame from mid-chest to just above the head
• Keep the camera at eye level
• Do not move the camera during the take

Lighting

• Face a natural light source or use a soft light
• Avoid harsh shadows on the face
• Do not backlight yourself

Sound

• Record in a quiet space
• Ensure your voice is clear and audible
• Avoid background music or noise

PERFORMANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Tone & Style

• This is a comedy-drama, not a skit
• Play the character truthfully, even when exaggerated
• Avoid cartoon acting — energy should feel natural but bold
  

Language

• Perform in 95% English
• Add light Nigerian Pidgin only where it feels organic
• Accents should be authentic (do not overdo it)

SLATE (VERY IMPORTANT)

Before your performance, please record a 10–15 second slate:Say clearly:“Hello, my name is ___, I am auditioning for the role of ___, I’m ___ years old, based in ___.”Then pause briefly and begin your performance.
