Reese Witherspoon has announced a prequel series to her 2001 hit film “Legally Blonde,” set to premiere in 2025. The series, titled “Elle,” will explore the high school years of Witherspoon’s character, Elle Woods, during the 1990s, prior to the events of “Legally Blonde” and its 2003 sequel.
Witherspoon, dressed in a hot pink suit and pale pink stilettos, shared the news on social media, including a video where she applies pink lipstick and reveals a “top secret” scented script, all set to the song “Perfect Day” from the original film.
In her Instagram post, Witherspoon expressed her excitement about the series, highlighting Elle’s journey from a regular high school girl to the famous Harvard Law graduate.
The series will stream on Amazon Prime Video, with Witherspoon serving as an executive producer through her company Hello Sunshine, now part of Candle Media.
“Elle” promises to give fans an in-depth look at the early life of the beloved character, continuing the legacy of the original film where Elle Woods defies expectations by excelling at Harvard Law School and proving herself as a capable lawyer.
