The Nollywood film American Playboy, directed by Rotimi Raji, is set to debut in cinemas on Friday, July 26, 2024. The film highlights the challenges faced by Nigerian immigrants as they seek financial and economic stability in America.

The cast includes notable actors such as Adunni Ade, Tina Mba, Wole Ojo, Niyi Johnson, Jide Kosoko, and Segun Akindele.

Adunni Ade, who first appeared in the 2013 Yoruba film You or I, recently starred in the highest-grossing West African biopic of 2024, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti.

Tina Mba, a veteran with extensive screen experience, gained prominence from her role in the soap opera Everyday People and has appeared in numerous TV shows such as Jemeji, Hotel Majestic, and Desperate Housewives.

The film also features a strong supporting cast that enhances its storytelling.

American Playboy revolves around Akindele and Fadekemi, a couple struggling with their relationship amid Akindele’s four-year unemployment.

Their situation complicates further with the arrival of Jimmy, an American returnee with a personal vendetta. Written and produced by Silas Babalola, the romantic drama delves into themes of family dynamics, love, betrayal, and forgiveness, set against the backdrop of Nigeria and the U.S.

Raji’s previous works, including Bachelor’s Eve and The Other Side of Love, often explore romantic relationships and their complexities.
