King Charles and Queen Camilla have unveiled their official Christmas card for the year, featuring a photograph taken in the serene gardens of Buckingham Palace.

The image, captured on a sunny April day, shows the royal couple smiling warmly as they stand side by side. The accompanying festive greeting reads, “Wishing you a very happy Christmas and New Year.”

The photograph portrays King Charles dressed in a tailored grey suit paired with a blue tie, his right hand casually tucked into his pocket.

Queen Camilla complements the scene in a striking blue wool crepe dress, exuding elegance. This marks the third official Christmas card released by the couple since Charles ascended the throne, offering a glimpse into their lives as they continue royal traditions.

Renowned photographer Millie Pilkington captured the image, which holds special significance as it was taken shortly after the King resumed public duties following his cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

The palace described the card as a symbol of life returning to normal, encapsulating the resilience and optimism of the royal couple during a challenging year.

This year’s Christmas card adopts a more informal tone compared to the 2023 version. Last year’s image, taken by Hugo Burnand, featured a regal setting in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace.

That photograph commemorated the historic occasion of Charles’s coronation, with the King wearing the Imperial State Crown and Queen Camilla adorned in Queen Mary’s Crown.

The release of festive images has long been a cherished tradition among senior members of the Royal Family, showcasing both formal and personal moments.

For Charles and Camilla, this year’s choice reflects a more intimate and relatable side, resonating with the season’s themes of warmth and togetherness.

As part of their holiday tradition, the King and Queen will personally sign approximately 2,700 cards, which will be sent worldwide to family, friends, world leaders, and key organisations.

This meticulous gesture underscores the couple’s commitment to maintaining meaningful connections, a hallmark of their reign and public service.
