Nigerian music sensation Ruger has announced the release date for his much-anticipated sophomore album, Blown Boy.

Taking to his Instagram story, the talented star revealed that the album will drop in March 2025. This new project follows his 2024 collaborative album, RnB, which he created alongside BNXN, his former rival turned collaborator.

Ruger’s announcement has generated significant excitement among fans eager to experience the next chapter of his musical journey, one that promises to solidify his standing as a versatile and innovative force in the Afrobeats scene.

The lead-up to Blown Boy has been marked by the release of several captivating singles. Tracks like Luv Again and Make Way have already given fans a taste of Ruger’s evolving sound. Most recently, he unveiled Toma Toma, a collaboration with Tiwa Savage that has been well-received both critically and commercially.

The album will also mark Ruger’s second major project since parting ways with Jonzing World in 2023 to establish his own label, Blown Boy Imprint. The album’s title reflects not only Ruger’s newfound independence but also his ambition to carve out a legacy that’s distinctly his.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2020 with his breakout EP, Pandemic, Ruger has consistently demonstrated his prowess as one of Afrobeats’ most dynamic hitmakers. His unique blend of Dancehall and Afrobeats has set him apart, while his willingness to experiment with R&B has showcased his artistic versatility.

Hits like Bounce and Abu Dhabi from his debut EP captivated audiences, and his sophomore EP delivered crowd-pleasers such as Girlfriend and WeWe. Ruger’s debut album further solidified his reputation, with tracks like Asiwaju dominating charts and affirming his place among the best of his generation.

Beyond his chart-topping records, Ruger is celebrated for his electrifying stage presence. His live performances, often characterized by interactive moments with female fans, have earned him a reputation as a showman.

With Blown Boy on the horizon and a North American tour planned for later in 2025, Ruger is poised for a landmark year. Fans and industry watchers alike are eager to see how this new chapter unfolds for an artist who continues to push boundaries and set new standards in the ever-evolving Afrobeats genre.
