British actor and comedian Russell Brand has publicly denied a series of serious allegations, including rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault, brought against him by four women.

In a video statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Brand addressed the accusations head-on, asserting his innocence and expressing his determination to challenge the claims in court. The alleged incidents span a period between 1999 and 2005, a time Brand describes as chaotic and marked by personal struggles.

He acknowledged making poor choices in his past, particularly during his battles with addiction, but firmly denied ever committing any acts of non-consensual sex.

According to reports, Brand faces a total of six charges: one count each of rape, indecent assault, and oral rape, along with two counts of sexual assault. These charges are scheduled to be heard at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on May 2, where Brand is expected to appear and begin the legal process of defending himself.

The allegations have sparked widespread media attention and public debate, particularly given Brand’s transformation in recent years from a controversial entertainer to a vocal public figure on issues ranging from politics to spirituality.

In his video message, Brand appeared composed and grateful, first taking a moment to thank his supporters who have continued to stand by him through the controversy. “I appreciate all of the love and support,” he said, before reiterating his commitment to contesting the accusations in a court of law.

He emphasized that while he is far from perfect, and has lived a turbulent life, particularly in his early career, his actions have never crossed the line into non-consensual territory. “I’ve made mistakes,” he admitted, “but consent has always been at the heart of my sexual experiences.”

Brand went on to reflect on his past, describing himself during the time of the alleged incidents as a deeply flawed individual. “I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord,” he confessed, adding, “I was a drug addict, a sex addict, and an imbecile.”

Despite this raw admission, he insisted that his personal evolution does not change the facts of the present situation and that he looks forward to clearing his name.

His statement ends with a message of resilience and faith, as he prepares to face the legal battle ahead while holding onto the personal transformation he claims has brought clarity and purpose to his life.
