Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the movie weapons supervisor involved in the unintentional shooting on the set of “Rust,” faces an impending 18-month prison sentence following her conviction for involuntary manslaughter in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.

Her sentencing is scheduled for Monday in a New Mexico state court, where she has been detained since March. Gutierrez-Reed may also receive a $5,000 fine, with prosecutors attributing the incident to her for violating gun safety procedures and carrying live ammunition onto the set.

Her defense has requested a lenient sentence, emphasizing her remorse and advocating for rehabilitation over punitive measures. Despite being cleared of tampering with evidence during the “Rust” investigation, Gutierrez-Reed faces additional felony charges related to bringing a gun into a bar.

Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey urges the maximum sentence, citing Gutierrez-Reed’s recklessness and lack of remorse. Meanwhile, others involved in the incident, such as assistant director Dave Halls and props master Sarah Zachry, have avoided prosecution through various means.
