Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie’s highly anticipated performance at the Station Afrique (Africa Fan Zone) event in Paris, scheduled for August 9, 2024, was canceled by his international engagements agency, EaglePlug. The cancellation was due to the event organizers’ failure to meet the contractual terms agreed upon two months prior.

Despite EaglePlug’s extensive efforts to ensure the performance could proceed, including preparing for Sarkodie and his team’s travel to Paris, the agency managing the event did not fulfill the necessary conditions. The situation remained unresolved despite repeated assurances from the organizers, ultimately leading to the last-minute cancellation on the day of the performance.

EaglePlug expressed their deep regret over the cancellation and offered an apology to Sarkodie’s fans, acknowledging the disappointment caused by the unforeseen circumstances.

They reassured fans that they remain committed to rescheduling the performance when the conditions are more favorable and the contractual terms are fully respected. The agency emphasized their dedication to fulfilling Sarkodie’s international engagements while ensuring that all agreements are honored by the organizers.

The cancellation comes amid a series of controversies surrounding Sarkodie, including a petition from the New Ghana Social Justice Forum that aimed to ban him from performing due to accusations of promoting misogyny and a public dispute with actress Yvonne Nelson.

Despite these challenges, Sarkodie was prepared to travel to Paris for the event. It was clarified that his performance was not part of the official Paris 2024 Olympic Games’ opening ceremony but was instead planned for an independent cultural event coinciding with the Olympics.
