Senate President Godswill Akpabio met with popular Afrobeats artist Davido in Abuja and expressed his support for the entertainment industry, praising him for his contributions to the international community.
Akpabio emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting talented individuals and called for the creative industry’s backing to ensure governmental success. He highlighted the importance of unity and patience in achieving these goals.
He said:
“You have made us very proud within the International community and we will do everything possible to support the entertainment industry.”
“For us in the political arena, we value talents…We do everything possible to support the industry. To support talented people like you. All we need also is patience and prayers so that we can succeed.”
Akpabio also advised Davido to avoid political involvement and reiterated that his leadership, as well as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, is inclusive and bipartisan. He pointed out his efforts to bridge party lines, referencing Davido’s uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is a member of the PDP.
“For me and for the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, it’s an inclusive administration, and you must have noticed in my various outings, we move as one, across party lines.”
Davido expressed gratitude for the Senate President’s hospitality and shared details of his philanthropic work, notably his foundation, We Rise By Lifting Others, which annually donates 400 million naira to orphanages across Nigeria.
