Showmax has unveiled the trailer for the third and final season of its Nigerian Original telenovela Wura, set to premiere on September 23, 2024, with two new episodes airing weekly.

The new season picks up where it left off, with the town of Iperindo preparing for Tumi and Jeje’s wedding. However, their union is threatened by unexpected events and past secrets resurfacing.

Meanwhile, Wura’s empire faces imminent collapse as her enemies gather to strike, promising a dramatic and intense series finale.

The return of Wura brings more captivating storylines, combining power struggles, betrayals, and hidden secrets that draw viewers deeper into the characters’ lives.

Showrunner Rogers Ofime has assured fans that the final season will offer compelling plots and character developments, delivering breathtaking performances that will leave a lasting impression.

The production team has invested heavily in ensuring that this finale exceeds expectations, with intricate storytelling and unforgettable moments.

Since its premiere in 2023, Wura has gained widespread popularity as the most-watched title on Showmax in Nigeria. The show’s first season introduced Wura-Amoo Adeleke, the ruthless CEO of Frontline Gold Mine, who would go to any length to protect her empire.

The second season further explored her complex relationships and family dynamics, as well as the dark secrets threatening her carefully built world. Both seasons set the stage for the explosive developments expected in the third and final season.

Wura has received several accolades, including nominations for lead actress Scarlet Gomez at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) and The Future Awards Africa Awards. In 2024, the series was nominated at the AMVCAs for Best Writing and Best Scripted Series and won Best Web Series at the Gage Awards.

As the Nigerian adaptation of the acclaimed South African telenovela The River, which earned an International Emmy nomination, Wura has proven its appeal through its compelling storyline and strong performances.

The upcoming season will feature returning cast members, including Scarlet Gomez, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Martha Ehinome, and others. Fans can expect more suspense, drama, and unexpected twists as the final episodes unfold.

Wura continues to captivate its audience with a gripping storyline centered on the discovery of gold in Iperindo, Osun State, as characters face both personal and professional challenges in a thrilling conclusion.
