Taylor Swift leads the 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) nominations for the second consecutive year. The 34-year-old pop star is nominated for seven awards, including Best Video, Best Artist, Best US Act, and Best Collaboration.
These nominations follow the release of her 11th studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department,’ which has continued to cement her status as one of the most successful artists in the world.
Swift’s strong presence at the EMAs follows her dominance at the 2024 Video Music Awards (VMAs), where she took home seven awards. This achievement brought her career total to 30 VMAs, matching Beyoncé as the most-awarded artist in the event’s history.
Last year, Swift was up for the same number of nominations at the EMAs, but the ceremony was canceled due to global instability, specifically the Israel-Hamas war.
In the Best Artist category, Swift faces competition from fellow American musicians Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, and Billie Eilish, as well as British artist Raye. Other British acts like Central Cee, Charli XCX, and Coldplay are also nominated in various categories, further highlighting the global scope of the awards.
This year’s ceremony features 19 first-time EMA nominees, offering fresh talent the chance to make their mark. Notable new nominees include British and Irish acts like Disclosure and Fred Again for Best Electronic, Fontaines DC for Best Alternative, and The Last Dinner Party for Best New Act.
Rock fans can look forward to a competitive Best Rock category, with iconic bands such as Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Green Day, Liam Gallagher, and The Killers going head-to-head.
In the hip-hop category, rap heavyweights like Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Megan Thee Stallion, and Nicki Minaj are among the nominees, reflecting the diversity of genres celebrated at the EMAs.
For the first time, the 2024 MTV EMAs will be held in Manchester at the newly opened Co-op Live arena. The event, set for November 10, will be broadcast live on MTV UK, Channel 5, and Pluto TV at 9 p.m.
It will also be available on-demand on Paramount+ starting November 12, ensuring that fans worldwide can enjoy the show.
