Apple TV+ has officially confirmed that Ted Lasso will return for a fourth season, bringing back the beloved Emmy Award-winning comedy to television.
Fans had been left speculating about the future of the show after the third season finale, which appeared to wrap up many of the central storylines.
However, with this new announcement, it’s clear that the journey of AFC Richmond and its quirky yet inspiring coach, Ted, is far from over.
Jason Sudeikis, who plays the titular character, will reprise his role as the American football coach-turned-English Premier League manager. In the previous season, Ted decided to return to the United States, seemingly leaving his coaching career behind to focus on his family.
His return in season four raises several questions about how the story will unfold and whether he will once again lead AFC Richmond or take on a new challenge.
While the show’s return is confirmed, Apple TV+ has not yet announced the full casting lineup. Alongside Sudeikis, previous seasons featured an ensemble cast, including Hannah Waddingham, Nick Mohammed, Juno Temple, and Phil Dunster.
It remains unclear if these fan-favorite actors will return, but given the strong ensemble dynamic, many are hopeful that the original cast will reunite for another season of heartfelt comedy.
Jason Sudeikis shared a cryptic statement about the upcoming season, hinting at a shift in philosophy for the AFC Richmond team.
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,’ in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to leap before they look, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”
His words suggest that the season will explore bold decisions, unexpected challenges, and the idea of embracing uncertainty—a theme that has always been at the heart of the show.
In the third season, several major developments unfolded. Brett Goldstein’s character, Roy Kent, stepped up as assistant coach, working alongside Coach Beard (Brendan Hunt) to guide the team.
Meanwhile, Ted Lasso himself struggled with personal and family issues back home, leading to his emotional departure from AFC Richmond.
Season four will likely address these lingering storylines and provide answers about the team’s future and Ted’s ultimate role in it.
Beyond starring in the show, Sudeikis is also a co-producer, helping shape the series behind the scenes. Brett Goldstein, who plays Roy Kent, is not only an actor but also an executive producer and writer for the show.
Their creative involvement has been instrumental in maintaining the show’s balance of comedy, drama, and emotional depth, which has resonated with audiences worldwide.
Since its debut in 2020, Ted Lasso has become one of the most critically acclaimed comedies of the past decade. Across three seasons, the series has earned 61 Emmy nominations, with 13 wins, including two consecutive Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series awards for Sudeikis in 2021 and 2022.
Despite confirming its return, Apple TV+ has not yet announced a release date for season four, leaving fans eagerly waiting for more details about the next chapter in Ted Lasso’s journey.
