On June 7, 2024, Tems achieved her highest streaming day on Spotify, amassing 8 million streams following the release of her debut album ‘Born In The Wild’. This milestone set a record for a Nigerian female artist.

On the album’s opening day, Tems garnered 5.33 million global streams, placing her second behind Ayra Starr, who had 6.3 million streams for her sophomore album ‘The Year I Turned 21’.

Tems’ rise to international fame began in 2021 with her contributions to Wizkid’s global hit ‘Essence’. Since then, she has become one of the fastest-rising artists worldwide.

‘Born In The Wild’ features 18 tracks and collaborations with Nigerian superstar Asake and American rapper J Cole. Ahead of the album release, Tems released two singles, ‘Me & U’ and ‘Love Me Jeje’, which have accumulated over 99 million and 32 million streams, respectively, highlighting her growing influence and the anticipated commercial success of her album.

Tems holds several records in the Nigerian music industry. She became the first Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy Award in 2022 for Best Melodic Rap Performance on Future’s ‘Wait For U’, featuring her and Drake.

Additionally, she is the first Nigerian artist to receive an Oscar nomination for her contribution to the soundtrack of Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.
