Grammy-winning artist Tems has released her latest single, “Love Me Jeje,” which samples the classic Nigerian track of the same name by Seyi Sodimu featuring Shaffy Bello from 1997.

The anticipation for the single grew after Tems previewed it during her performance at Coachella 2024. This release marks her first of 2024, following her guest appearance on Tyla’s “NO. 1” from the South African artist’s debut album.

“Love Me Jeje” follows Tems’ December 2023 release, “Not An Angel,” and features African percussions and Highlife chords, incorporating nostalgic elements from Sodimu’s original. Tems explained her decision to sample the 1997 record as a tribute to the classic during her Coachella performance.

This single heightens anticipation for her upcoming debut album, which she announced as ready during the same performance. Additionally, a private listening session in Lagos further built excitement for the album.

Since gaining international recognition in 2020 after her standout performance on Wizkid’s “Essence,” Tems has solidified her position as one of Africa’s prominent music exports.

She has collaborated with Drake and Beyoncé and co-written “Lift Me Up,” the official soundtrack for “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” performed by Rihanna. Notably, Tems made history as the first Nigerian female artist to win a Grammy for her contribution to Future’s “Wait For U.”
