The 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is set to kick off on Friday, May 10, 2024, with the Cultural Day event, initiating a series of activities leading up to the Award Night on Saturday, May 11. Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice West Africa, expressed her anticipation for the event, highlighting its growth and recognition since its establishment in 2013.
The 10th edition represents a significant milestone in celebrating African talent and creativity, marking a decade of excellence in African cinema and television. The occasion aims to honor filmmakers, actors, and industry professionals who continue to captivate audiences across the continent and beyond.
The 10th AMVCA will feature winners across 25 categories, including 16 non-voting, 9 audience voting categories, and recipients of 2 recognition awards – Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer Awards.
Sponsored categories encompass Best Lead Actor and Actress, Best Movie, Best Digital Content Creator, Best Indigenous Africa Magic Originals, Best Director, Best Short Movie, Best in Cinematography, Best Unscripted M-net original, and Best Writing TV Series, supported by various sponsors such as Verve, Quickteller, Amstel Malta, Martell, MTN, TECNO, and Indomie.
