The Nollywood crime thriller “Shina,” co-directed by Muyiwa Adesokun and Lillian Carmen Ike-Okoro, has premiered on Netflix.

The film follows Shina Akanji, a middle-aged man attempting to lead a humble life as a taxi driver after years of indulging in drugs, alcohol, and cultism.

His life takes a dramatic turn when his grandmother falls critically ill, prompting him to seek a solution that may ignite a movement in Lagos State on the eve of an election.

Nigerian actor Timini Egbuson, who also serves as the executive producer, stars alongside Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman. The film was produced by Feyifunmi Oginni and features a cast including Akin Lewis, Segun Arinze, Aleiru Idowukeji, Neo Akpofure, Immaculata Oko-Kasum, Shawn Faqua, Tope Tedela, Tolulope Adewunmi, and Preach Bassey.

Egbuson expressed his excitement about the project, describing “Shina” as a project close to his heart.Co-director Ike-Okoro made her directorial debut with the web series “When Are We Getting Married” in 2021 and directed an ad for SGBV in early 2022.

Adesokun, the other director, is also a writer who published a collection of poems titled “The Taxi Driver and Other Poems” in 2021.
