After a 20-year hiatus, American actor-director Kevin Costner returns to the Cannes Film Festival with the premiere of the first part of his epic Western, “Horizon: An American Saga,” featuring notable stars Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, and Jena Malone.

Costner, recognized in India for works like “Yellowstone” and “Dances With Wolves,” expressed gratitude for the festival’s selection, citing Cannes as the ideal platform to unveil his 35-year-long project.

Described by the festival as a monumental exploration of America’s history and its costs in terms of war and violence, “Horizon” aligns with Costner’s commitment to depicting the nation’s origins, flaws, and legends, echoing themes seen in his acclaimed film “Dances with Wolves.”

Costner’s journey in film, from his directorial debut with “Dances with Wolves” to his versatile acting roles in iconic movies like “The Untouchables,” “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” “JFK,” “The Bodyguard,” and “A Perfect World,” showcases his enduring talent and diverse contributions to cinema.

Alongside Costner’s work, the Cannes Film Festival also announced George Miller’s “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” and the opening film “The Second Act,” directed by Quentin Dupieux. The festival’s full lineup is set to be unveiled on April 11 by Festival chief Thierry Fremaux in Paris.
