Tickets for American singer Chris Brown’s upcoming concert at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium sold out in less than three hours, quickly filling the venue’s 94,700 capacity.
The concert, set for 14 December 2024, is part of Brown’s much-anticipated South African tour. Fans, eager for his return to South Africa, rushed to purchase tickets as soon as they were released, creating a frenzy that reflects the widespread excitement surrounding the event.
This overwhelming demand demonstrates Brown’s strong fanbase in the country, where his music and performances have long been celebrated.
The rapid ticket sales for Chris Brown’s show are being compared to Justin Bieber’s 2013 concert at the same venue, which also sold out in just a few hours.
Both artists have proven their ability to attract large, enthusiastic crowds, particularly among younger audiences. However, not every artist has achieved this level of success at the FNB Stadium.
Recent comparisons have been made to Burna Boy’s controversial concert at the same venue, which struggled with ticket sales and did not manage to fill the stadium. Brown’s quick sell-out, therefore, stands in contrast and underscores his immense popularity.
Due to the overwhelming demand, concert organizers Big Concerts have decided to add a second show. Fans who missed out on the initial tickets now have another opportunity to see Chris Brown perform live.
The newly announced concert will take place on Sunday, 15 December 2024, giving more fans a chance to experience the highly anticipated event.
Tickets for this additional show went on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, 4 October, through Ticketmaster, creating another rush for spots at the concert.
Big Concerts has also issued a warning to fans about purchasing tickets from unauthorized sellers, such as Viagogo, which is known for inflated prices and unauthorized sales. The organizers emphasized that tickets bought from secondary resellers will not be valid for entry, and fans will not be eligible for refunds.
They encouraged fans to only purchase tickets through verified platforms to ensure their entry into the event. This precaution is aimed at protecting fans from scams and securing a safe and legitimate concert experience for all attendees.
To streamline the process, all tickets for the Chris Brown concerts will be 100% digital and available through Ticketmaster’s verified accounts. Buyers are limited to eight tickets per person, and transfers will only be allowed 30 days before the event.
Additionally, mobile ticket barcodes will only be issued three days before the concert to prevent unauthorized resale or misuse of tickets. These measures are in place to ensure a smooth and secure ticketing experience, in line with the high demand for the event.
As anticipation builds for what is set to be one of the biggest events of the year, Chris Brown’s ability to sell out the massive FNB Stadium so quickly highlight his enduring global appeal.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the additional show and the chance to witness one of R&B’s top performers live. Brown’s two Johannesburg concerts are sure to be among the most talked-about performances of 2024, solidifying his status as a powerhouse in the music industry.
