Uncle Waffles, whose real name is Lungelihle Zwane, became the first amapiano DJ to headline the Wireless Festival in London, a major rap and hip-hop event. This year’s festival featured top artists like Nicki Minaj, Doja Cat, and South African Afropop star Tyla.
Uncle Waffles made history as the first amapiano act to perform at the sold-out show last weekend, showcasing her energetic performances, strong social media presence, and unique fashion style.
Expressing her excitement on social media, Uncle Waffles noted, “The only DJ headliner, first DJ to headline in 8 years. Only Amapiano act and I know there are so many more to come.”
The last DJ to headline the festival was Calvin Harris. Her lively set featured hits like “Tanzania” and Mellow & Sleazy’s “Christmas Present,” captivating thousands of festival-goers and highlighting the global influence of the amapiano genre.
Since gaining fame in 2021 with her viral video playing Young Stunna’s hit song “Adiwele,” Uncle Waffles has performed on international stages and earned recognition from notable figures like Ciara, Kaytranada, and Drake, who amplified her fame by following her on Instagram and praising her talent.
Her consistent engagement with fans on TikTok and other social media platforms has solidified her position as a global favorite in the music industry.
