In a recent turn of events, popular social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as Very Dark Man (VDM), has shared troubling news with his followers. In a video recorded at an airport lobby, VDM disclosed that cybercriminals hacked into the official website of his NGO and stole a staggering ₦180 million.

The visibly shaken activist expressed his distress while waiting for a flight to Jos with a security officer assisting in the investigation. “For the past few days, I’ve not been myself,” VDM confessed in the emotional video. “Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and I don’t know how they did it. 180 million is missing.”

The video, which quickly went viral, captured VDM’s determination to recover the stolen funds despite his apparent frustration. The activist revealed that the security officer accompanying him, identified as Officer Joe, had been instrumental in tracking the criminals.

“I’m here with Officer Joe, and we are going to Jos,” he explained. “Thank God we have tracked the person, and we are on our way to Jos. They’ve arrested one.” His words reflected a mix of relief and resolve, as he acknowledged progress in the case while grappling with the enormity of the loss.

VDM further elaborated on the ongoing investigation, providing updates on the recovered portion of the funds. “An account has been put on PND [Post-No-Debit]. So, the account now has 20 million,” he said.

However, he added that the majority of the money—₦160 million—had already been diverted to another account. This revelation underscored the complexity of the situation and the challenges involved in fully recovering the stolen amount. Despite the setback, VDM remained focused on the mission, emphasizing that their trip to Jos was aimed at apprehending the remaining suspect and regaining the missing funds.

The activist also informed his followers of steps taken to prevent further breaches. “I even had to shut down the app,” he disclosed, signaling a temporary pause in the NGO’s online operations to safeguard against additional cyberattacks.

This decision highlights the proactive measures VDM is implementing to protect his organization and rebuild trust with supporters and donors. His transparency throughout the ordeal has drawn sympathy and support from his followers, many of whom praised his determination and honesty.

As VDM embarks on this crucial mission, his followers and well-wishers continue to rally behind him. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the growing threat posed by cybercriminals and the importance of robust digital security measures.

For VDM, the journey to Jos represents more than just recovering stolen funds—it is a fight to restore the integrity of his NGO and maintain the faith of those who believe in his cause.
