Renowned Ghanaian actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo, has been plunged into mourning following the passing of his father, Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr.
The tragic news was shared by Dumelo on his social media pages, where he expressed deep sorrow and gratitude for his father’s life and guidance. The senior Dumelo, aged 75, passed away shortly after spending quality time with his son, marking a sudden and heartbreaking end to a life well-lived.
In a heartfelt post, the Ayawaso West Wuogon Member of Parliament recounted the final moments he shared with his father. Dumelo revealed that his father had called him over for a conversation the day before his death. “At age 75, you lived your life well,” Dumelo wrote.
“Yesterday, you called me several times to come see you. We sat on the bed and spoke at length about politics, life, farming, and business, and of course, we gossiped.”
The actor noted that their conversation also touched on his upcoming swearing-in ceremony, scheduled just three days away, where his father advised him to serve diligently in government.
Tragically, only minutes after Dumelo left his father’s house, he received a distress call informing him that his father was unresponsive. He rushed back, and they quickly transported him to the hospital, but it was too late.
In his emotional tribute, Dumelo expressed his gratitude for his father’s unwavering support and guidance over the years.
“Thanks for being my father, thanks for being my best friend, thanks for being my number one cheerleader, and thanks for everything you did for me. Say hi to mum for us all…we will miss you.”
The loss comes at a pivotal time for John Dumelo, who has been transitioning into his political career after winning the parliamentary seat for Ayawaso West Wuogon in Ghana’s last general election.
