Warner Music Group, a prominent American entertainment and record label conglomerate, is seeking to partner with the Nigerian government to invest in the country’s burgeoning music industry.

During a recent visit to Abuja, representatives from Warner Music met with Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, to discuss global expansion plans with a focus on Nigeria.

Alfonso Perez-Soto, President of Emerging Markets at Warner Music, outlined the company’s vision for supporting local talent and driving innovation in Nigeria’s creative industry.

He highlighted Warner Music’s significant investments in African music, including partnerships with Afrikori Warner and Chocolate City Record Label in Nigeria. Perez-Soto also noted the success of Nigerian artists like Burna Boy, CKay, and Joe Boy under Warner Music’s umbrella.

Minister Musawa stressed the importance of protecting intellectual property rights and developing infrastructure to support the sector’s growth.

She emphasized the need for strategic partnerships and policy frameworks aligned with the Ministry’s eight-point agenda to create a conducive business environment.

The meeting allowed both parties to explore potential collaborations aimed at growing the industry, creating jobs, and contributing to Nigeria’s economic development.

Warner Music Group expressed enthusiasm for engaging directly with the Ministry, recognizing Nigeria’s pivotal role in the African music scene.
