Filmmaker Omoni Oboli has announced a spinoff to her 2016 film “Wives on Strike,” titled “The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3.” In a heartfelt post, she expressed her excitement about returning to the big screen, describing the project as a homecoming.
The original “Wives on Strike” premiered in 2016, followed by a successful sequel, “Wives on Strike: The Revolution,” in 2018. The satire follows a group of women who withhold sex from their husbands to urge them to advocate for a young girl forced into marriage, also protesting gender-based violence in their community.
Despite its humor, the film sparks important conversations about women’s issues.Oboli expressed her gratitude to the cast and crew, acknowledging their passion, perseverance, and dedication to the project. She also thanked her fans for their continuous support.

Oboli, known for films like “Moms at War” and “Being Mrs. Elliot,” revealed that the cast includes Chioma Akpotha, Uche Jombo, herself, and Ufuoma McDermott, with exciting additions such as veteran actress Hilda Dokubo, Bukunmi Adeaga-Ilori (KieKie), and May Yul-Edochie.
The film is set to be released in the fourth quarter of the year, as announced in her post.
